In this Episode 35 of the Niche Blogging Tips Podcast, we're going to talk about the top trends for blogging that bloggers need to know. Stay tuned.
Welcome to the Niche Blogging Tips Podcast where we help you start and grow a successful blog. And now your host, Andre Vaughn.
We put together a resource page for a lot of the things that we don't talk about in our episodes, make sure you check that out as things such as ebooks, audio books, which are for sale. Also, it has things with different affiliate links, that helps us pay the bill. So make sure you check this out. It's that nichebloggingtips.com/resources, that's nichebloggingtips.com/resources.
As you know, blogging, just like a lot of these other different content, factories, or content, whatever you want to call them, just all the different content platforms, the different types of content, none of these things are going to stay the same as you know. So you have to, I guess, get better with not only time but get better with these new trends. There's a lot of different things going around. And I found a couple of nice articles, one of them from one of the top bloggers where if you want to call him a blogger, I just call him a marketer, because he's a hell of a marketer. And his name is Neil Patel, and this is at NeilPatel.com. So before I even get into this, there's going to be two different articles that I talked about in this episode. And I'm going to have both of them in the show notes. So it's going to be at nichebloggingtips.com/episode35.
But this first one is cool is called, What's the name of this thing? It's called all "The Six Blogging Trends To Capitalize On This Year." So I'm just going to talk about two of them that he has, he has the first visual Well, the first blogging trend is visual content. And here's what he says about and I think all of this is interesting. He says no blog and trans lists will be complete without reminding you of the importance of visual content. There's no doubt about it, visual content is on the rise. Studies have shown that readers can recall 65% of the visual content they've seen even three days later. That's pretty big. It says that's a big boost for your brand's visibility, and retention. Just kind of scrolling down here. As blogs become longer and more detailed design and interactivity grow. Oh, it's just a is but it says in interactivity grow is important. As let me read that again. As bloggers become longer and more detailed design and interactivity grow in importance, he actually had that right, I screwed that up. visual content can offer readers a way to scan content without reading it all the way through only 16% of online readers take in content, word by word, the rest of scanning, looking for quick and efficient information. If you want readers to stay on your page, be engaged and promote your content on other platforms. This will make your information easy to scan and remember, simply by using visuals.
It also says right below that using visual content and your blog posts this is this is the thing that had me not just thinking about the thing I was I was kind of like Yeah, yeah, he's definitely right. Adding images and videos to your content breaks up heavy chunks of text and offers a new responsive way of your audience to engage with your content. It's always preferable to use original content in your blogs. But stock imagery can be used very can be used useful when designing and engaging blog for example infographic offers readers a way to easily consume your information without wading through the entirety of your posts. And he has an example of info graph. And he says Likewise, likewise, video content is another one of this year's hot as blogging trends that offers readers a more engaging way of interacting with your posts, it talks about surveys and all that all of those different things he actually has a video right here called how content marketing will change in 2022 I thought that was pretty big. And that's why SWOT always talk about you know, YouTube and stuff like that, you know, our YouTube channel.
Also a second blog and true trend real quick is affiliate marketing. He says another important factor in today's blog and trends is the implementation of affiliate marketing links in your blog content. Affiliate marketing allows you to create an ongoing sales funnel outside your website for example if you're running a b2c business, you might hire a blogger to write or review posts about your product. From there, you could offer their followers a discount if they buy it from that post. Not only does this improves your sales reach, but it also introduces you to new audiences. Blogs make up more than 40% of all affiliate commissions in the US making affiliate marketers an average of $65,800 per year. It's no wonder affiliate marketing is one of the hottest blogging trends of the year.
It also says talks about how you can use affiliate marketing on your blog says when creating a blog, think about affiliate marketing techniques you can employ if you are mentoring up, if you're mentioning a product or service, reach out to that company and see if they have an affiliate program you could join. You could do this by a simple Google search. And it shows you how to do that. And it says it's always best to choose product, you know and love as your results depend on how well you sell it. That said no one reads a sales pitch. With that said no one wants to read a sales pitch. A useful a successful affiliate blog should be educational and informative and should employ other blogging techniques such as SEO and visual content. And he goes on and on and on. He has actually two other blog and trends but the affiliate marketing when he has a video attached it I thought this was a this was it was definitely wasn't mind blowing, per se for me, but I just thought it was really good. I was really good. And those are two blog and trends that stood out this other article, it's called this is on the website, blogging wizard.com.
It's called the Scott 37 latest blog and statistics for 2022 The definitive list. So now we're like at the end of 2022 are the time you're reading this? Yeah, you might be it might be close to 2023. Very close, if not in 2023 when this episode comes out, I don't know exactly when it comes out off the top of my head. Because I Always batch record these episodes. There you have it 37 latest blog and statistics, the definitive list. And the way they broke this down when they break it down. It says the editors top picks. These are different statistics, the editor top picks and as the general blogging statistics, then the blogging platform statistics, blogging content, statistics blog and revenue and effectiveness stats, blog and growth and trend stats that ask some questions like what percentage of blogs are successful? What are good blog stats, how many blogs are there has an infographic that has 101 Plus blogging statistics, and blogging statistic sources and so on. Pretty cool article and I'm gonna talk about a few of these. I'll try to hit one and in these main categories, the editors, top picks for blogging statistics and said these are our most interesting statistics about blogging.
So according to this website, blogging wizard.com. And like I said, I'll have this article in the show notes. So I'm not gonna read every entire article because it's definitely too long. But it says these are our most interesting statistics about blogging. There are more than 600 million blogs on the internet and it also cites sources cite sources for everything in this article. Internet users leave around 77 million comments per month on blog posts, articles that include visuals get 94% of views than those without and this is what Neil Patel was just talking about.
This next section general blog and stats says there are more than 600 million blogs on the internet. And alright over 2 million blog posts are published on a daily basis. And his sites host in tribute tribunal. There are 31 point 7 million bloggers in the US alone. The number of bloggers worldwide can be difficult to calculate exactly. However, stats published by statistic show that there are at least 31 almost 32 million bloggers in the US alone says internet users let me see now. 409 people view wordpress.com blog pages every month. It takes around three hours and 55 minutes to write a blog post on average. Keep that in mind because I have a point about that 2164 words is the median length of blog posts that was from last year, and that's from HubSpot. At least 54% of fortune 500 companies have public facing blogs. It's like 46% that don't have fortune 500 companies that don't just think about all the other medium, small businesses that don't have blocks opportunity. They're almost half of all internet users take the opinions of bloggers and vloggers into account. And those are just like the titles that I read or something.
There's more information like below them, says, blogger platform stats. Tumblr is the most used blogging platform with over 494 million blogs. Didn't have stats for like Wix Medium. Medium has over 60 million monthly readers and says blogs are the most common form of media used in content marketing, says blog and continues to be a popular form of media amongst marketers according to HubSpot state of marketing report, blogging is the second most common form of media used in content marketing blog and is second only to video content which has increased in popularity in the last couple of years. And it goes like this says videos blogs, infographics, case studies, interviews, ebooks, white pages, checklists and others. That's HubSpot. 89% of marketers use blogs and their content strategy says blogs that are 3000 to 10,000 words long get the most shares 30% of blog readers prefer blog headlines that include a number goes on and on and on and on and on. This is a blog in revenue and effectiveness stats. 70% of consumers prefer blog posts to ads. Blogging can help your website get up to 55% more visitors says having a blog can increase your ranking potential by 434%. That's HubSpot.
Here's one by a Content Marketing Institute says 92% of marketers consider written content like blogs to be worth investment says blogging is a forever favorite for marketers the world over and almost all marketers they use blogging as part of the strategy report that it offers good are Oh, I see next one. It says the average base pay for a blogger is 52,000 per year. That's according to glass door. Food and Personal Finance Blog make around $9,000 per month on average, while it's food and personal finance blogs, lifestyle and mommy blogs come in third and fourth of the highest earning niches according to rank IQ. It's Brandon Gailey over there at rank. IQ. Pro blogger pro bloggers get around 42% of their income from affiliate sales. That's rank IQ. It's next one is blogging growth and trend stats says blog posts are getting longer. I'm gonna read something out of this one. It says one clear trend we've seen over the years is the gradual increase of the median length of blog posts. Some bloggers and marketers are already accommodating are already recommending prioritizing super long form in depth pieces. 3000 words plus the reason for the increase in blog post link ties is the Google algorithm nails from Neil Patel says bloggers more bloggers this next one more bloggers are turning to affiliate marketing I kinda read some of that previously, speaking from the Neil Patel article, and his next one, it says more bloggers are carrying out original research than ever before. That's a study from Orbit Media. And it says it has some some questions at the end and a nice infographic here.
The last thing I'm gonna say about this is the one big trend that I'm seeing a lot of is using more AI tools while writing blogs. A lot of the bigger platforms, they're hiring, they're either hiring out or they're hiring. The writers that that's writing for them are using AI to very few people actually, I'm not gonna say very few people, very few of the real big bloggers that are writing first of all, in our writing, majority are not writing their own blog posts, and then the people that are hiring out to use an AI tools. You have AI tools that can actually write blocks for you or sections of a while however, you know the different AI tools operate.
These two articles are a great one. Leave them in the shownotes. Like I said, Mitch, blog and tips.com forward slash, episode number 35.
