You hit publish and sit back with a sense of accomplishment. But then you remember: no one is reading your blog. In fact, you’re not even sure why you started blogging in the first place.  These are some of the realities of a blog but take a listen to hear what we are saying in this episode!

Episode 41 of the Niche Blogging Tips Podcast, we're going to talk about the harsh reality about your blog. Stay tuned.

Welcome to the Niche Blogging Tips Podcast where we help you start and grow a successful blog. And now your host, Andre Vaughn.

We put together a resource page for a lot of the things that we don't talk about in our episodes, make sure you check that out. It has things such as ebooks, audio books, which are for sale. Also, it has things with different affiliate links, that helps us pay the bills. So make sure you check this out. It's at nichebloggingtips.com/resources, that's nichebloggingtips.com/resources.

When I think about the harsh realities of blogs, the first thing that comes to mind myself is the word dormant. And if you look up dormant, it says there's a couple of different definitions dormant of an animal having normal physical functions suspended or slowed down for a period of time, that last part slowed down for a period of time. And the other one is the other definition, is really the one that came to mind when I think of dormant, of a dormant blog almost temporarily inactive or an operative. And that's what, that's the reality of blogging, your blog, in the beginning, definitely, it's going to be inactive, get used to it, it's gonna be a few things. But that's the one thing that I have in my dorm, and it's gonna be quiet for a while. Got to be very, very quiet, you gonna be writing this content, left and right, you're gonna be writing, and writing and writing an article here and writing an article there, and it's gonna be quiet. Now I'm just speaking about Google traffic, search engine traffic, I'm not speaking of anything else. So if you are a beginner, if you are a beginner blogger, understand that it's got to be quiet, especially if you're looking at Google traffic as a means of getting traffic to that blog. And that's okay. That's okay. It's not, there's no shame in that at all. Just you have to have some, some patience with it. As kind of becoming my theme. The last few few episodes here is I'm talking a lot about patience. And you have to have that.

The other thing that comes to mind, when I think about the harsh realities of blogging, is you have to have little expectations in the beginning. Because of the reason that I said, you have to just humble yourself, when you start producing content for your blog, humble yourself have little expectations in the beginning, because it's gonna be a, it's gonna be a slow, lonely walk for a while. Now, I'm just speaking, if you are a blogger and your your are beginner blogger, and you're by yourself, it's your first blog, or maybe your second one, or what have you, and you're going into it and you're writing the content, you have no help at all, it's just you, if it's just you, you have to have very little expectation period.

The third thing that I have is you have to learn how to promote it. If you don't learn how to promote it, you're gonna stand it dormant phase, for longer have to learn how to promote, you have to do things like guest blogging, not just social media, social media is fine, everybody's gonna, they're gonna do, they're gonna go that route, because it's the it's the easiest one. And especially if you have a secondary, if you're working on a secondary platform, like if you have a blog and like a podcast, you have to promote it. Guest blogging, no, that's getting with other bloggers in your niche, not necessarily a big, gigantic blogger. You don't want to start that way. Because a lot of bloggers in your niche if they're if they already have a platform are going to reject you anyway. But immerse yourself into someone that's maybe on the same level as you are a little bit ahead of you immerse yourself in their content and the way they're doing things. Read their stuff and leave comments and stuff like that you can do that first, before you reach out to women and see if you can help their readers because that's what guest posting or guest blogging is all about. It's about you adding value to another blogger by writing a blog post for their audience. So you have to really know the platform the other person's platform before you even start writing that's why I said it's good to it's good to you know, write and I just write but I was gonna say comment on their stuff and share or their stuff? And all those different things.

First, though, thing that I was going to talk about is, you will be lucky, I'm sorry, you will be likely, more than likely, you will suck in the beginning. Yep, I said it, you will suck in the beginning. And here's why you're new. All of this stuff is new. It's new to you. Just like anything else, like getting on a bicycle, you want to fall. So Kato that's the number one thing is okay, it's okay, if you blocks up, you're gonna have things that's just gonna be off, whether it's your fonts, whether it's your design, whether it's any other thing that has to do with the user experience is going to suck in the beginning. But that's okay. So Kay, you're not going to start off. It's almost like, you're not going to start off in the beginning, having 100,000 people visiting your blog, you're not going to have all these different all these different visitors and so on and so forth, because people don't know it's new. So it takes time, all this stuff takes time. So you don't have to embrace your blog being bad for a while, you're going to embrace, just things being not so good, you're going to have to embrace it in order for this to get you to where you want to get to, so to speak.

And the last thing I have is, in terms of the harsh reality of your blog, is you have to have the mentality that I'm not going to quit, don't ever ever quit. Keep writing, keep learning. Just keep trying, just keep on keep on keeping on. You have to otherwise you're not going to see the results that you are looking for. Don't don't even think twice about quitting. Now, you're going to have stages where you're going to get bored. And if that happens, take a week off, take a couple of days off or what have you. You don't have to put out content every week, if you don't want to, if you're if you're feeling some sort of burnout, walk away from it for a week or two. But make sure you don't walk away from it for a long period of time. Have to you have to keep on keeping on keep producing content, keep putting out content. And reason you need to keep putting out content because at some point, you're gonna get traction, you're gonna get traction on your blog, people are gonna come and they're gonna read and then once you have, once people start liking your stuff and sharing it and want more, that's just the thing that they're gonna want more, they're gonna want more they're gonna want you to do more wants you to produce more.

Whenever you don't put something out there or leave your message maybe on your social accounts or what have you. Hey, where you been? Or maybe come in on a different a different article. Hey, where are you being? They're gonna start asking about you. So just keep on you. Just don't quit. Don't quit. If you need to take some time off. Take time off. There's nothing wrong with it. You know, life happens. Life happens and from time to time, we all need a break and that's okay. Don't ever quit though. Don't ever quit. Just keep writing. keep producing. And before you know what, boom. Did you hear me snap my finger. Boom. You'll get to where you trying to get to. Whether it's no matter what the what the goal is, you'll get there. Just keep on keepin on.
